The 13th annual Aurora Open golf tournament enjoyed a perfect weekend with a total of 83 players, up 20 from last year.
It was very hot Saturday, cooler and windy on Sunday with very few bugs and the air cleared of smoke. A crew of 12 players came from Hay River, despite concerns about uncertainty around road closures from forest fires.
Jean Soucy won his 3rd Aurora Open, beating Brad Tuckey by one stroke in a hard fought battle. Jean had a two day total of 157 and Brad had 158.
The women’s winner was Barb McArthur, her 11th Aurora Open title in the 13 years the event has been running.
The senior men’s winner was Bruce McArthur and the super senior men’s winner was Robert Beaulieu. The women’s senior winner was Linda Germo and the junior winner was Theron Daniels.
The event raised $6,500 for Skills Canada NWT.
