Aurora College’s acting president for the last six months has been hired on officially in the position.
Jane Arychuk accepted the job, located at Fort Smith’s Thebacha campus, effective Dec. 1. She originally stepped into the role last June following the resignation of former president Sarah Wright-Cardinal.
“Her previous experience in the field of education and with the college will be a significant asset, and the board looks forward to working with her in advancing post-secondary education in the NWT,” said Aurora College’s board chair Sydney O’Sullivan.
An employee in the education field in the Northwest Territories for 30 years, Arychuk spent 23 years as a community educator in Fort Providence before becoming campus director of Yellowknife’s North Slave campus and vice president of Community and Extensions at Aurora College.
Arychuk received her Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Toronto and is currently nearing the completion of her Masters of Educational Administration from Saint Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia.
