tigationintotheshootingbytheMedicineHatPoliceServiceconcludedthatnochargeswouldberecom-mendedsincetheRCMPwereactingintheexecutionoftheirdutiestopreservelifeandpublicsafety.Thecommandingoffi-cerfortheRCMPChiefSuperintendentWadeBlakeissuedastatementfollowingthecompletionoftheinquestexpressingcondolencestoLandersfamilyandfriends.Ourroleistoprotectourcommunities.Policeworkishighriskandwhenpre-sentedwithcircumstancessuchasthisoneitaffectsusalldeeplyhesaid.Wemustallworkcloselytogetherinprotectingandcaringforourresidents.Wemustexaminethisincidentasacommunitytoseehowwecancollectivelyimple-mentpracticeswhichen-surethosemostvulnerableareprotectedandcaredfor.Blakesaidboththedetach-mentanddivisionwillreviewthejurysrecommendations.TheRCMPwelcomesanyopportunitytoexamineexist-ingproceduresandpoliciesastheyapplytofrontlinepolic-ingandpoliceoperationsinordertoensurethatthebestpolicingservicestothepublicarebeingprovidedhesaid.JusticeInquest
