chhighprolemeetingsattheinter-nationallevelshesaidthepri-maryintentforherselfandherfourcolleaguesistolearnasmuchasshecanwhilebeinganambassadorforCanadasNorth.Itsmainlyjustalearningexperienceforallofusshesaid.Wereall25orunderandtheyjustwantustoacquireskillsandknowledgeworkingwiththeUnitedNationsmech-anismsandbodies.Conferencethemesincludeindigenousrightsattheinter-nationalnationalandlocallevelsaswellaslandsandresources.Justgettingallthisback-groundknowledgeandthenbeingabletobringitbacktotheNorthnotmanypeoplegetthatopportunitysoImprettyexcitedshesaid.Ithinkitwilljustgivemeabroaderperspectiveknow-ingthattherearecommonthemesamongallAboriginalgroupsandnotallowingittojustbesweptundertherugknowingthatthereareprob-lemsandthatweneedtoad-dressthem.GillissaidNorthernindig-enousyoutharewidelyunder-representedatthenationalandinternationallevels.ShehopesherengagementintheglobalNGOworldwillshowotheryouthintheNWTthatsuchopportunitiesareavailable.Wedontgetasmanyop-portunitiesaspeoplefromthesouthdoshesaidanditsnicetoseesomebodyyoucanrelatetogoingtosome-thinglikethis.Indigenouswomenleadtheprocessionof400000demonstratorsacrossManhattanonSundayinthelargestclimatemarchinhistorytokickofftheUNClimateSummitandWorldConferenceonIndigenousPeoples.
