Charges laid in Fort Chip stabbing

A 15 year-old male has been charged with several criminal code offenses in connection with a stabbing that injured two people in the early morning hours of October 16 in Fort Chipewyan.

The suspect is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.

He has since been released from custody on a number of conditions and is set to appear in court on November 3.

Two 17 year-old males were wounded in the attack that took place outside of the arena on Cardinal Avenue after a fight reportedly broke out among a number of youth. Both were flown to Northern Lights Hospital in Fort McMurray where one was treated and released.

The more seriously injured of the two has been classified as stable and continues to receive medical attention.

RCMP are continuing with the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Wood Buffalo RCMP at (780) 788-4000 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
