On the evening of December 8, PWK held its Christmas Coffeehouse at Roaring Rapids Hall, featuring the PWK band with members from Grades 7 to 9 and the talents of guitar players and singers.

At 7:00 p.m., parents, teachers and students piled into the hall, filling the seats as the band welcomed them with a rendition of Jingle Bells. Snacks and hot chocolate were provided by Kelsey Baldwin, the PWK band teacher who also was celebrating her birthday.

Hannah Mantla and Xaye Catholique were the first talents to perform, singing I’m Yours by Jason Marz. Despite some technical difficulties, they were applauded for their brave and great performance. The band followed with We Wish You A Merry Christmas and a few non-Christmas, but jolly, tunes.

Another singing performer was Carson Roche, a regular at PWK spotlighted talents, who played covers of the Jonas Brothers and Hedley, amusing the crowd as they hummed along.

“I was really pleased with the performance and size of the crowd,” commented Baldwin. “I was also touched when everyone sang me Happy Birthday.”
