Feckin chili made by the carpentry division won this year’s annual chili cook-off at Thebacha Campus during Aurora College Week celebrations.
There were ten varieties of chili to be judged, from moose chili to last-second chili. The cook-off attracted local residents and students to taste, judge and enjoy some of the best homemade chili Fort Smith has to offer.
Feckin chili was the overwhelming favorite among participants, and many went back for a second helping. The tasty treat is a secret recipe that could not be bought, combining hot sauce and dashes of salt and spices to get just the right taste.
The event brought out over a hundred “participant judges” who ranked the top three chilis.
“We did have a few entries from other communities as well. Charmain’s classic chili won third place and that chili was from Fort Liard,” said Laura Aubrey, coordinator of the student success centre.
Lili’s chili, made by the electrical department, placed second.
