A Fort Smith resident has been reported as missing and RCMP are calling on the public to assist in the case. In an RCMP press release sent out Dec. 4, Hay River police announced their search for missing person Brian Melvin Boucher, 52, who was last seen in Hay River on Oct. 27.
He was attending a course at the college in town at the time of his disappearance.
According to RCMP spokesperson Elenore Sturko, Boucher was only recently reported missing by a family member.
“The reason that he has been missing for some time before the report to police is that it is not unusual for Brian to go for periods of time without contacting his family,” Sturko said. “It was only after an extended period without contact that the police were called.”
Boucher is described as being six feet tall, of Métis descent, around 150 pounds with short black hair, brown eyes and a light complexion.
Police say Boucher may be driving a black 1998 Ford F150 with a Northwest Territories licence plate, number 331317.
They are asking anyone with information relevant to the investigation to contact the Hay River RCMP at 867-874-1111 or anonymously through the Crime Stoppers program at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
