dSaturdayinJanuaryIvisitedmyfriendswhowerespendingtheirrstwinteronthesmallquainthouse-boattheyhadbuiltthemselvesonalake20minutesawayfromYellowknife.ThatdayIhelpedthemhaulsomewoodfortheirstoveontheirhomemadesled.ItwasfunformebutIrealizedhowmuchworklifeoffthegridiswithnorunningwaterorelectricity.Theircabinisacosyhavenwhenthestoveheatsituptoalmost30degreesandtheau-rorasdanceabove.TomeitstheultimatelifeonthelandwithitshardworkandbeautifulrewardsofMotherNature.2015LovetheLandCalendarWinningPhotos
