on-AboriginalresidentsoftheNWTandratherthanbeexcludedtheyneedtohaveanintegralroleinwildlifeman-agement.FundamentaltoalllegislationshouldbethegoaltouniteallNWTres-identstoworktogetherintothefuturetowardacommonpurpose.NWTeconomytohaveaplanWhilewearegivingoutaccoladestoNWTgovernmentministersDavidRam-sayministerofIndustryTourismandIn-vestmentdeservesonetoo.HeisontherighttrackwithhisnewplanningprocessforanEconomicStrategy.Theplantodiversifyandstrengtheneconomicfun-damentalssoNWTresidentsarelessdependentontenuousresourceextrac-tionprojectsatthesametimemakingthembetterequippedtotakeadvantageofthosesameprojectsisessential.ThefactthathehashisdepartmentworkingwithcommunitygovernmentschambersofcommerceandAboriginalbusinessesisparticularlyencouraging.WorkingwithFirstNationsandcommu-nitygovernmentshastobeavitalpartofthataswell.Inorderforthistogobe-yondbestintentionsfancytalkandalotofexpensivemeetingscommunityecon-omieshavetobestrengthened.Smallbusinessesarethefoundationofeveryeconomy.TheyneedtothrivethroughouttheNWTifthisinitiativeistosucceed.WerepeatourcallfortheNWTgovernmenttore-invigoratetheuseofitsbuyingpowertosupportlocalbusi-nessesbuildcommunitycapacityandbolsterlocaleconomies.MovemberratedbarberCharlesMoubarakprepsWesternArcticMPDennisBevingtonforamonthofmoustachegrowingatHouseofBaronsinOttawalastweek.MovemberisafundraisingeffortwherebymengrowmoustachestobringawarenessandfundingtoprostatecanceroverthemonthofNovember.PhotoNickGhattas
